Mystery over Patanjali’s bid for drug trial in MP | India News

INDORE: Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali had asked for permission to test its Covid-19 treatment on patients in Indore in May, but the government apparently put it in cold storage after the Indore administration initially allowed it.
On Wednesday, no official would comment on whether any decision was taken on Patanjali’s application. Indore collector Manish Singh had on May 22 given permission to Patanjali Research Foundation Trust for drug trial of its Ayurvedic medicine on Covid-19 patients. After TOI published the news, he cancelled the order on May 24, saying they would wait for the government’s guidelines.
Indore’s MGM Medical College dean, Dr Jyoti Bindal, confirmed to TOI that they had received a proposal from Patanjali to conduct drug trials. “I had forwarded it to officials in Bhopal to take the decision at their end. We haven’t yet received any reply,” he said.
