India tapping 7,600 km of offshore power potential

In an effort to harness renewable energy, India has announced its first offshore wind power project along the coast of Gujarat, the political home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A memorandum of understanding for the 100-megawatt Gujarat demonstration project has been signed by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and state-run National Thermal Power Corporation and Power Grid Corporation of India.
